Most all of these will go for sale on Etsy. I’m thinking of using a couple of them on eBay. The last picture is a variety of hand made spindles. I will have a detailed feature of those soon.

I was on the Etsy Showcase today(2-3-07.) I didn’t see as much activity as I would have liked, but I will concede that the store is not stocked as well as it should be. The good news is that I have purchased more dyes to dye with. The bad news is that I am running out of fibers to dye. I also gained a few hearts which is nice, it means maybe I will see people back.
In other news, my spinning group is Sunday and I will (hopefully) have a chance to try out 2-3 wheels that I am interested in. Then, if the tax money holds out any… I will be able to buy one. Wish me luck!

There have been a few listings posted over the last week. The apprentice and I have been hard at work dying fibers, washing the raw stuff as well as sorting and organizing in general. The next immediate goal is to list these things.
Here is the newest listing: Strawberry Shortcake
10% off the price of the above listing after visiting the blog. Just type FFYR2 at checkout and wait for an adjusted invoice. (Offer good through January 15, 2007)
More dyed fiber, sock yarn and handspun to come. Stay tuned!

4 oz dyed roving:
Hand-dyed sock yarn:
I am particularly excited about the second listing. After some persuasion, my husband is going to get involved with the store. He will be able to work on dying fibers, roving, sock yarn and such. He will also be taking pictures and listing items. Hopefully this will encourage more frequent listings.
Check it out for yourself!

I got the goods at SAFF this weekend. I purchased some basic fiber to dye and lots of different things to experiment with. I bought ANGORA and GLITZ for blending. I bought JACOB sheep roving to see what the excitement was about. I got linen, lots of linen and bleached and natural tussah SILK. Oh, and I bought a silk cap to dye and spin. I am excited. I spent $70 at the last vendor I went to and she had awesome deals. I will be sure to keep her website in mind for future purchases (even though its under construction at the moment.) If I make it back next year, I will be back at her booth. It was the only line I stood in but well worth the wait.
Check out the haul!

Angelina (not Jolie): I spun this really neat blend from Bountiful Spin Weave. One of the ladies at my spin group bought the last of a line of this particular blend and she let me try some out. It was about two ounces and it had cooper colored angelina fibers in it. Very pretty. Its mostly Blues with some royal purple, yellow, white, black and of course cooper colored angelina.
Silk: I am very happy to report that I sat down and pulled out my sample of tussah silk and went for a spin. It was so smooth. Its true what was said that the silk practically spins itself. I would love to work out laceweight singles with tussah silk. Now to spin up the other half and hope that I have enough twist to take it off the bobbin without falling apart.
Goals: (Last but not least) I announced earlier that I learned to knit. This is still true but of course it is only the first basic stitch. I am endeavoring to work a knitted rectangle from a skein as a small childs scarf for my son. One done.
I did finish one of my list items (see pictures below.) 1/3 done.
As for the rest, we are only half way through the month so its hard to say. I have gotten out my spinning wheel on two different occasions this week. However, over the next week, I will have a huge push to get finished with my classes for summer. I am going to start setting my mind to some color issues. My husband is helping divide up the remaining sock yarn into 4 skeins. I believe this will be the least time consuming way to experiment with colors this month. 2 in progress.
Thats about all. When I know more, I’ll tell you more. Wish me luck with the rest of my goals!

I should have this added by the end of the weekend.

This is one of three sections of dyed roving that will be added to the Etsy store. It was dyed in colors of yellow, lavendar, baby blue, and turqouise. I think I will name it “And then there was green” only because I didnt intend for it to be in there. of course we all know yellow and blue make green but… I wasnt accounting for that.

I hope I get something done before the weekend is out. I finished spinning some Alpaca from a batt and then wound it in what looks like a center pull ball and committed to plying it. Of course there is not a whole lot of it after I did that but I seriously thing the plying is doing better. I now have 2 learn to spin kits, 3- 4 oz balls of pastel-ish colored roving, a duo of thick and thin yarn in purple (one part plyed with thread on part thick and curly.) I also have a few mini-skeins that I will try to post for reasonable prices including, 43 yards of rose colored alpaca and 43 yards thick and thin royal’s forest. I also have tiny amounts of a baby blue alpaca, and ingeo. I need samples though so they may get volunteered. I will attempt to upload pictures tomorrow. It will be a good experiment.
